The event kicks off with a New Orleans-style jazz Memorial Procession (also known as the Rooster Funeral) for the famous rooster, James E. Rooster that will parade or through Ybor City.
Dress to impress! Costumes with a Mardi Gras or chicken fair encouraged as well as flowers and cowbells.
Event starts at – 5:30pm
Gather for a few words for the dearly (but not so) recently departed James E. Rooster by the Tommy Stephens gravesite (1 block south of the train tracks behind the Blind Tiger Cafe).
The band, pall bearers, undertaker, and guests will assemble in the Dirty Shame courtyard for the march down 7th Ave. Dogs and their owners will assemble at Gaspar’s Grotto and join the processional as it passes. Dogs should look suitably rueful and carry signs of shame.
